OpenFront Giant World Map — 107 Nations, Easy to Get Lost

Giant World Map has 2.34M land tiles and 107 nations — the most bots of any map, so early expansion is cheapest here. But a grid cell is 195 tiles, double World's.

The short version

  • 107 nations, more than any other map. Bots cost 30% fewer troops, so the opening is cheapest here
  • A grid cell is 195 tiles — double World's 100, so every distance you eyeball is wrong by half
  • Routes reach 2,969 tiles, paying 223,450 gold per ship
  • Linking the country next door is the trap. Bulgaria to Romania is 38 tiles and pays 1,929 gold

Giant World Map is 2,335,403 land tiles with 107 nations. That is the highest nation count in the game, which means the bot-eating phase of the opening is cheaper here than anywhere.

The catch is scale. At 4,108 × 1,948, one grid cell is 195 tiles — every distance instinct you built on World is off by a factor of two.

The basics

Value
Size4,108 × 1,948
Land2,335,403 tiles
Water70.8%
Nations107
Public lobby frequency15
Grid cell195 tiles
Avg magnitude98.5

Terrain is evenly spread: 37.2% plains, 33.0% highland, 29.8% mountain. At 98.5 the magnitude is essentially identical to World’s 98.6, so your sense of what an attack costs transfers directly.

Nine European nations sit inside two or three grid cells. That density is the map’s character — plenty to eat early, and a correspondingly high chance of bumping into a human while you do it.

What 107 nations buys you

Attacking a bot costs 30% fewer troops (see the combat guide). With 107 nations you get that discount two or three times as often as on a normal map.

So the opening here is “avoid humans, eat bots.” If a human borders you, ally rather than attack and push toward the bots instead — see the one-minute opening build.

Trade routes — the range is enormous

RouteDistanceRevenue per ship
Bulgaria ↔ Romania38 tiles1,929 gold ← below the threshold
France ↔ Finland300 tiles52,500 gold
Belarus ↔ Thailand971 tiles123,550 gold
Belarus ↔ Australia1,691 tiles159,550 gold
Nawan-mirri ↔ Washington2,969 tiles223,450 gold

That is a 116× spread. In a crowded region like Europe, pairing with the country next door is the single most common mistake on this map.

With 195 tiles per cell, keep partners at least two cells (390 tiles) apart. Check exact values in the trade ship calculator.

Troop caps

ShareTilesCap (no cities)
1%23,354935,693
5%116,7702,294,971

With 2.34M land tiles, 1% is 23,354 tiles — 3.6× World’s 6,516. The same leaderboard percentage represents a completely different amount of ground, and the absolute distance to the 80% win condition is that much longer.

What changes here

  1. Recalibrate distance. 195 tiles per cell. Building ports on World instincts puts almost all of them under the threshold — see measuring distance on screen
  2. Stay on bots as long as possible. With 107 nations there is enough ground to take before you have to fight a person
  3. Games run long. At 23k tiles per percent, decisions take a while to pay off. If the Doomsday Clock or overtime is on, that clock genuinely intervenes here
  4. Cities first. Land enters the cap at the 0.6 power, so cities win even when there is a lot of land — see how many cities
